Tottenham Eye Genoa’s Radu Dragusin

Tottenham Hotspur is eyeing Genoa’s Radu Dragusin, exploring a potential acquisition as the January transfer window looms. Valued at £26 million (€30 million), the Romanian center-back has garnered attention, securing a spot on Spurs’ shortlist for defensive reinforcements.

The pursuit of Dragusin underscores Tottenham’s strategic interest in bolstering their defensive line. While the club considers a formal approach for the 21-year-old, Napoli has also expressed interest in securing his services, as reported by Sky in Italy. However, competing interest from Atalanta and Milan exists, though these clubs appear inclined towards alternative targets.

Amidst this pursuit, Ange Postecoglou, with a keen eye on defensive restructuring, has prioritized this position within the team. Alongside Dragusin, Spurs are also showing interest in Nice’s Jean-Claire Todibo. Yet, securing a deal for Todibo in the upcoming window seems improbable.

Tottenham’s scouting extends to other prospects, including Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini, and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly. Postecoglou’s inclination toward young talent aligns with the profile of Dragusin, who, at 21, represents a promising addition to the defensive lineup.

Dragusin’s history at Juventus, where he played alongside current Spurs players Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, adds an intriguing dimension to the potential transfer. His initial signing at Juventus in 2018 was overseen by Fabio Paratici, who had previously facilitated the moves of Kulusevski and Bentancur to Tottenham before his resignation earlier this year. This connection might play a pivotal role in Spurs’ pursuit of Dragusin.

As Tottenham continues its pursuit of defensive reinforcements, the potential addition of Dragusin could shape their strategy in fortifying their backline for the challenges ahead.
